Rainy Day

Today we had no plans on the calendar and it was a dreary, rainy day outside so at breakfast this morning the kids declared today a PJ day. Oh how I love those days! We lazily watched 101 Dalmations after breakfast and then moved upstairs to finish rearranging toys, clothes, etc. to finally allow Clayton to sleep in his new room. While I was working on that, the kids had a blast digging through the "Let's Pretend Box" Here's some of my favorite pictures.
Here's Clayton in his sombrero and Brooke's princess shoes while talking on the phone.

And here's Brooke conducting her own orchestra as we listened to Spring Creek's new worship album.

Both kids are now happily sleeping upstairs. Brooke was so excited that Clayton was in his new room she asked if she could take a nap too. Of course - mommy never objects to a quiet afternoon.

Yardwork!

Mike and I had quite the aggressive list of things to try to get done this weekend (okay, it was mostly my list for Mike since I'm not supposed to be doing a whole lot right now.) He took the day off on Friday and worked on the yard. The landscaping around the garage was on the list for this summer - so he shoveled 2 yds of dirt, planted 24 new bushes, tilled & planted my garden, planted my flowerbeds, and spread 7 yards of mulch. It looks great! Here's Brooke taking a break. Her "job" was to use the paintbrush that she's holding to wipe off the landscaping bricks after daddy spread the mulch. It kept her busy and it was much more useful help than anything else he needed at the time. (We started with her trying to mulch the flower beds, but most of my flowers were slowly being buried.)

Saturday he cleaned the entire house for me (including dusting!) Sunday he mowed, edged, weed whipped, etc. and cleaned up the garage. Today, we took a break to go to Grandma Denyse's and Grandpa Mark's for a Memorial Day parade - Clayton was excited for the fire trucks and Brooke was all about the candy! Now he's cutting doors to shorten them for the new carpeting and finishing up the odds and ends. Bed rest starts in just 2 weeks - so it'll be great to have it all done. And I bet Mike hasn't slept so well in a long time - I'm so proud of what a hard worker he is.

Big Sister Class

Last weekend Brooke and I attended the Big Sister class at Community Memorial Hospital. She had a lot of fun and as you can see from the picture I took before the class, so excited to go. We even got to tour the birthing floor and see where mommy would stay where she had the baby. Brooke also got to see the room that she stayed in while in the NICU after she was born - I can't believe that was 4.5 years ago. Walking back into those rooms it seemed like it had just been days.

New Carpet

Things have been a bit interesting around our house as we've shifted furniture and ripped out old carpeting to prepare for the new. After 4 weeks, we are finally close to done. Clayton is still sleeping in his pack 'n play in his old room which has now been set up as a baby room again. His new room upstairs is still waiting on a door (daddy's finishing that up today) so that we can transition him upstairs. The new carpeting and new woodwork on the 2nd floor really looks nice....and probably worth the chaos! For a week, Mike, Brooke and I all slept up in her room (Mike and Brooke on the futon and myself on her bed.) The following week Brooke slept in between Mike and I in our bed - which probably wouldn't have been so bad except I need so many pillows to sleep these days that it was a little bit tight. Here's a few pictures of my "helpers" cleaning up the living room.
